Planned Giving

Learn how bequests and other gifts can support your financial and philanthropic goals.

You can make a gift to the Cancer Center that also helps alleviate income and estate taxes and takes care of your family. These planned gifts enable you to utilize a tax-burdened asset or charitable gift vehicle that benefits both you and the Cancer Center. These types of gifts help sustain the work of our healthcare providers and researchers, benefiting patients and families now or in the years to come.

GIVE WITH FLEXIBILITY
There can be peace of mind in knowing that your gift can be modified should your financial situation change. Bequests and beneficiary designations are among the most flexible ways to support the Cancer Center. The amounts you leave to the Cancer Center will pass free of estate tax and, in the case of retirement assets, income tax.

GIVE AND RECEIVE
Would you like to supplement retirement income for you and your spouse or provide for a family member? Life income gifts provide annual payments for you or a loved one (or both) and offer tax deductions for you or your estate, ultimately benefiting Cancer Center patients in the future. They can be funded with cash, securities, or, in some cases, real estate.

GIVE FROM YOUR IRA
If you are at least 70½ years old, you are eligible to make qualified charitable distributions of up to $108,000 annually from your IRA. QCDs that are used to make outright gifts are excluded from federal taxable income and count toward required minimum distributions. You may use a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA to create a life income gift.

The Cancer Center Development team wants you to get the most out of your support of UVA Health! When considering a charitable donation that will change lives, why not take advantage of the many benefits of a planned gift?
