COVID-19 Response
UVA Health has stayed consistently ahead of the curve of COVID-19. We were the first medical center in the state to develop and use our own COVID-19 testing, and we participated in a number of clinical trials in the earliest days of the pandemic. We also opened our new bed tower ahead of schedule, and we partnered with our local health district to ensure a broad and equitable distribution of vaccines. To date, we are proud to say that UVA Health has safely administered more than 120,000 doses of the vaccine, and more work is being done every day.
Through the resilience of our community, and the commitment of our entire UVA Health team, we’re pleased to say that our COVID-19 hospitalizations have fallen to their lowest levels in months, and we have been able to downsize our COVID-19 unit. In the coming months, we’re excited to continue bringing you many stories of discovery and care, as well as opportunities to support UVA Health.
How You Can Help
We have created a UVA Health COVID-19 philanthropic fund to support critical needs of our patients, frontline care providers and staff, and researchers. Gifts will help UVA Health meet the most urgent needs in ensuring the health and safety of our frontline team members, caring for patients here at UVA, and providing COVID-19 testing and other resources in service to the Commonwealth.
