Appreciated Securities
If your investments in the financial markets have been successful, you can use these assets without losing a substantial portion of your earnings to the capital gains tax by making your gift with appreciated stock. Also, a gift of stock held more than one year may qualify for a charitable income tax deduction equal to the securities’ full fair-market value. It is also possible to make a gift with appreciated securities in a mutual fund.

Every year, members of our Charlottesville community and beyond host and attend events that support UVA Health. Our board and hospital volunteers give invaluable time and expertise.

To recognize your generosity and the impact you have on UVA Health, we've created a series of recognition societies. Each society offers special opportunities to members. To honor your gifts, we may also include your name in our various publications, or on permanent recognition pieces throughout UVA Health.
Compass Rose Society
The Compass Rose Society honors the leadership and vision of our most generous benefactors. Compass Rose Society members have cumulatively given $250,000 or more to UVA Health during their lifetimes. Members' gifts benefit the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, the Claude Moore Health Sciences Library, and UVA Medical Center and its centers and programs.

Administrative Fee on Gifts
