Faith Chaudhuri was born at 28 weeks and required around-the-clock care in UVA's Health Children's Level IV NICU for 71 days. Faith's parents, Alex and Derek, share how the dedicated physicians and nurses treated them like family while saving the life of their now thriving 8-year-old.
Born with a congenital heart condition, Olivia underwent her first surgery at UVA Health Children’s when she was three days old to install a pacemaker. Due to her condition, Olivia will need procedures every five to seven years for the rest of her life. Now a teenager, Olivia has had four heart surgeries and is on her fourth pacemaker but continues to thrive.

We have one of the state’s only Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Programs, led by nationally-renowned pediatric cancer researcher Dr. Trey Lee, and are opening a new bone marrow transplant program for our pediatric cancer patients. Dr. Michael Engel recently joined the UVA team as division chief for our pediatric hematology/oncology program.
